dictionary app

I can download other dictionaries ok but i am not able to download:

(1) Apple

(2) British English

Says 'downloading' .. but the blue bar does not show and it has been like this for about 10 days 😟

Anywhere I can get the files and add them to the Dictionary myself?

I have Sierra on my Mac.

I had that problem.

You have to download dictionaries in dictionary app.
Goto dictionary app and download them.

For tap-translate problem,

Goto system preferences --> Trackpad --> Point & Click --> enable Lookup & data detectors.

So i open dictionary and hit preferences but all i see is wikipedia as option. There's no other downloadable dictionary. Sad. Here's an image:

I honestly don't know why your dictionary app doesn't show other options. :/

Dictionary app in my laptop lets me select dictionaries.

we see these options but there was another option "Dictionary" which was mac dictionary not oxford etc.

I upgraded my iMac to Sierra yesterday, and then I got the following when I opened the Dictionary app more than an hour ago. Is this how it's supposed to be? There is no indication of how far the downloading has got, how much longer it will take etc, which is annoying. In the meantime, the only available dictionary is Wikipedia, which is pretty useless.

Hi I had this problem yesterday and then when I looked today it had all downloaded so I think it takes at least a few hours...

I have finally got all of mine downloaded as well, yay! Btw, I have just downloaded a couple more and the downloading has been much faster today for some reason.
